summer

We ran under the sun,
And made faces at each other,
Sang songs and danced around,
Saw the sky change its colors,
And spoke of old folktales
Tried counting the number of stars and laughed uncontrollably,
We promised to never exchange letters, postcards, or numbers,
Cuz we knew this was all we had,
now.
Looking down, blushing away
You give me a camomile flower,
I take it and walk away.
I knew you were waiting for me to turn around,
And I didn't.
I went home and kept the flower in my dairy,
I smiled at the promise we've made,
The promise to forget.
